Not sure what you are looking for or what might be appropriate in your
situation? We’re here to help. Take a read through the following for assistance
or call us at one of the above numbers, either way, or both, it is our job to
make you happy with your selection.
The included pictures are just for clarification of style and not a
recommendation. Pay attention to style as you look through the website, we can
always change a selection to the colors of your choice or as I often suggest for
orders going outside our deliver area, use the “Florist Choice” option. That’s
where you set the amount you would like to spend and the designer is free to
make a beautiful piece using the freshest, prettiest and most suitable flowers.
Please note on your order if there is a particular variety or color that you do
not care for.
I can only speak from my experience, but when I say that it can go to the
service then taken home, that service is normally provided by the funeral
directors and not a task the family would be required to do.
Another thing that you should keep in mind…everything here can be translated
into silk. If you are worried about them dieing because of the extreme cold or
heat, silk is the answer to your problem. For pricing please call one of the
numbers above.
Plants
Plants come in a variety of sizes and designs, but the one thing they all have
in common is that they are all suitable for either the home or the service.
Pictured is the Peace Lily that is commonly seen at funeral services. It, like
it’s counterparts, could go to the home or to the service and then returned to
the home afterwards. Single plants are normally available in the 6” pot size
(tabletop size) and up. Starting at $25 to $30, this is a good choice for an
acquaintance. Floor sizes start in the $40 to $45 range. These may go to the
home or to the service and taken back to the home afterwards.
Dish gardens are a variety of green plants in a container that may be a ceramic
bowl or basket and normally starting in the $35 - $40 range. Another good choice
for an acquaintance or neighbor. Calling us is the only way to know what we have
on hand that particular day. We always have a nice selection, containers and
sizes vary. Fresh cut flowers may always be added. These are nice to go directly
to the home, but just as nice for the service and then taken back to the home
afterwards.
European dish gardens are different to dish gardens only in the fact that they
contain at least 1 blooming plant. These will normally start in the $45
and up range. These may go to the home or the service and then taken to the
home.
Plant baskets are much larger and contain at least two 6” plants, but normally 3
or more if you are interested in making a nice show. These may or may not
contain blooming plants, but a draping plant such as ivy always enhances the
look (in my opinion). For 2 plants the normal starting range is $60 to $65.
Although it is called the plant basket it may be in another type container as
well. These may be delivered to the home or to the service, after which they
would be taken home.
Basket and Vase Designs
Regardless of which design you decide upon here, use the beginning price as your
guide. Say we are going to do the traditional white plastic handled basket. The
set-up components are always the same. We need the basket, floral foam, and
greenery so there is a set cost for those items. Therefore anytime you add to
the money you are spending, regardless of category, you are adding to the
quality of the flowers and size of the arrangement. For clarification, when I
say quality of the flowers, I mean that instead of maybe 2 carnations we have
more money and can use 1 lily. The most important thing that all of the basket
designs share is that they have an additional water source other than just the
soaked foam.
A table top design is the most cost effective fresh cut alternative that we
have. Starting at $25 and designed with all the flowers on 1 side rather than
all-the-way-around a nice arrangement can be made using the less expensive
flowers. You will usually find carnations, miniature carnations, daisies etc. in
these pieces. This piece may go to the home or to the service. You always have
the option to spend more for the same piece and get a more expensive type
flower.
The traditional white plastic handled basket has been around a long, long time.
Generally it is done in a triangular shape, but can be changed up a bit in
style. These generally start at $45 which would include your less expensive
flowers such as carnations, daisies, statice, etc. and would stand approximately
22” high by 20” wide. Again adding to the price adds to the size and flowers
used. These pieces are sent to the service, then on to the gravesite.
Basket designs in wicker is one of my personal favorites for two reasons. First
of all, if you want, you can make a statement and secondly (and most
importantly) it has a water source so the flowers should have no problem
remaining fresh throughout the 2 or 3 day period. You should plan to spend $75
and up for a nice wicker arrangement. A wicker basket would normally go to the
service and then back to the home.
A basket done in “high style” can save you money over the traditional triangular
shape. By using fewer flowers it may cost less and provide and eye catching
appearance. These have become more popular over the last several years. High
style arrangements can start in the $45 to $50 range and up. This piece would
always go to the service and then it would be dependent upon the funeral
director whether it would go to the gravesite or home, and that would normally
be determined by the container.
A vase design may either be all-the-way-around or one-sided. One-sided designs
appear larger and fuller for the same money. Again, remember that the mechanics
of the vase and greenery are a constant, so any monies added increases the size
and types of flowers used. The base price for a small one-sided vase (approx. 8”
vase) would be approximately $35, while the base price of the all-around
arrangement would be approximately $45 with the flower types being the same. It
just takes more flowers to do the all-around style. A larger size vase (approx.
11” vase) would start in the $50 - $55 for the one-sided style and $75 -$80 and
up range for the all-the-way-around style. The vase may go to the home or to the
service where it would then be taken to the home.
The urn, is my other favorite. A multitude of design options are available here
and I guess that’s why I like it so much. Although an urn can certainly be made
as a one-sided- piece, it lends itself more to the all-around design. We have
two sizes of urns available with the small one starting in the $65 and up range
and the larger one starting in the $100 and up range. This piece may go directly
to the home, but are generally sent to the service then on to the home.
Easel Arrangements
The most common easel piece is the standing spray and may come in a variety of
styles. Many of the ones seen here in the mountains are the common diamond shape
or the elongated diamond shape. High style pieces are perfect for easels and
make quite a statement. The one hold back on the standing spray is the water
source. It doesn’t have one, other than the ¾ block of foam that is soaked
before the design is made. This is not a problem normally, but can be if you use
sensitive flowers. I love gerberas, but shy away from them in easel and casket
designs. I just don’t trust their ability to hold up for a couple or three days.
A traditional standing spray will start approximately $55 and up. A nice
elongated design would start in the $80 and up range, and for a showy piece I
would count on $100 - $125 and more. The spray can be easily duplicated in silk.
Either option would always be sent to the service and then on to the gravesite.
The wreath has a variety of ways that it can be made as well. Many people think
of the all the way around, filled with flowers wreath made into the wet foam.
This is certainly a very popular technique, but may be expensive as well. For
this type design, I would begin in the $100 and up range, with emphasis on the
up. It can be cheaper to fill the foam form with greenery then have 1 or 2
sprays of flowers on the on the top, bottom or sides. Another choice in the base
is a grapevine wreath with 1 or 2 sprays of flowers on it. The wreath would
always be sent to the service and then on to the gravesite. The wreath converts
very well to its silk counterpart and may save you money by going that route.
We normally use a 24 inch heart and sell just as many of these in silk pieces as
we do fresh, probably even more. The heart may be based out in greenery as well
as flowers with a pleated ribbon edging. Then a spray of flowers is added on the
side or middle. This piece is always sent to the service and then on to the
gravesite. Silk hearts start in the $100 and up range while the fresh begin at
approximately $125. We can certainly accommodate you with a smaller size heart
if you like, but would need time for special order since we do not keep them in
stock, just call for available sizes and pricing.
We use a 36 inch cross (measured lengthwise) and it may be done equally well in
fresh or silk. The traditional cross is based out in flowers with a pleated
ribbon edging, but may be backed out in other materials such as greenery or
moss. The fresh version starts at $75 and up while the silk begins at $65 and
up. As with the heart, small sized crosses are available upon special order.
